Parks Heritage: A Tradition of Community, Charity, & Volunteerism

Parks Heritage Federal Credit Union is proud to be a part of the rich history of the Glens Falls Region. We celebrate our heritage every day in the form of our name.

In 1897 Glens Falls was a booming center of industrialism in the northeastern United States. Its fast-growing population prompted a group of 12 doctors to establish a medical center to serve workers, their families, and the surrounding communities. Later that year the hospital was fully incorporated and looking for a home. The newly formed hospital board of directors included a local industrialist by the name of Solomon A. Parks. Parks generously donated his home at 48 Park Street for the formal establishment of what was known as Parks Hospital.

It later became Glens Falls Hospital and in 1965 established a credit union for its employees: Glens Falls Hospital Employees Federal Credit Union.

In 2006, the hospital’s credit union received approval from the National Credit Union Administration to expand the field of membership to all medical service professionals and related fields in Warren, Washington, and Saratoga counties.

The Board of Directors then renamed the employee credit union Parks Heritage Federal Credit Union to celebrate the heritage of Mr. Solomon Parks, whose generosity paved the way for the Glens Falls Region to become a center of medical excellence.

In 2023 Parks Heritage Federal Credit Union received approval to expand its field of membership to include all persons who live, work, worship, or attend school in Warren, Washington, Saratoga, Hamilton, and Essex counties.

After having had the honor of serving the financial needs of the medical community exclusively for nearly 60 years, we are excited to open membership and welcome the entire community moving forward.
